The Sussex Women’s Football League is about much more than what happens for 90 minutes on the pitch. Across Sussex, players and teams turn out week after week, having to contend with the often vindictive weather, waterlogged or difficult pitches, postponed fixtures and the many practical challenges that come with the glorious grassroots.


Yet the games go on. The players, managers, volunteers and officials march forever on. Whether playing in sunshine or pouring rain, on a perfect surface or an unloved quagmire, the commitment to getting out there and playing is always there to impress.
